TALKS & WORKSHOPS

I’ve had the honor of giving talks and workshops at a variety of hosts from universities to art festivals, all wonderful opportunities to connect with diverse communities. My talks often begin with my multifaceted work as a launching pad to talk about memoir, multiculturalism, and the medium of comics with detours exploring craft and creativity.

I offer single and multi-day workshops for all the above and more. Each event is thoughtfully tailored to the goals of the organizer and participants, whether it’s introducing employees to new visual approaches to problem solving or students creating their first mini-comics. Interested in booking an in person or virtual talk or workshop for your school, library, business, or community? Gimme a shout. I’d love to collaborate with you on an engaging and unforgettable experience for all involved!

TEACHING

I joined the California College of the Arts faculty in 2014, and am a senior adjunct professor teaching a wide range of courses focused on cartooning (writing and illustration). My role as an art director developing junior designers/young creatives translates perfectly to teaching students of all skill levels and artistic backgrounds. I love the energy and challenges of the classroom environment, and my pedagogical approach is student-centered with an emphasis on collaboration and experimentation. I primarily teach in CCA’s low residency MFA Comics program with occasional hybrid and virtual undergrad and extension courses.
